MICA TYPE 1 PROJECT 4: mini-BOOK
by admin
Hey guys!
We are doing a book. Not just any book, but Grimms’ Fairy Tales by Jacob & Wilhelm Grimm. You will find the text for the book HERE thanks to the Gutenberg Project.
We will talk about the format and some specifications in class. I will update with more info soon!
In the meantime, below is the base grid that we will be using and some rough specifications.
Final page format will be 7″ x 8.5″ which will mean that your spreads in InDesign will end up being 8.5″ tall by 14″ wide. We will also be including an 1/8″ bleed on all sides of your spreads. The entire design will be done in Black and White + one PMS color that you select from a choice palette of colors.
We will use this grid as a standard for all of the pages of the book so that the text will have some common elements of format. How you use use that grid is up to you.
Download PDF of GRIDHERE.

In addition to the Fairy Tale that you are choose, you will also have to design a Cover page for your Mini-Book and include an illuminated drop cap for the first letter of the story that you are working on.
Lastly, you may share the book with anyone that you choose as long as you give it to them as a gift and do not accept any payment for the text.
Enjoy!
